Week 2 reflection

For week number 2, Sam and I mostly stayed local. Hoping we could catch a fish so we could study it and see first hand what type of micro plastics enter the fish we caught. Mostly just to get a feeling of accomplishment, and to have the evidence that fish really are effected by micro plastics, and we got to prove it. On Monday, Sam and I pretty much went fishing the whole day in order to receive and study the information we desired, we fished on land at numerous different locations from around 10-3, then later went out fishing with kayaks hoping that would give guys a better chance. We were out there for a long time to the point where it was pitch black out and paddling through a rain storm, not what we had in mind. On Tuesday we went to Newport Rhode Island to catch a nationally broadcasted boat race that works with the pollution of the ocean and the problems with micro plastics, we were able to read all about the focuses these boats have and what their mission is for helping and studying the ocean, it was cool to experience people actually setting off and making a difference for the ocean and the world for the health of nature and humans. For Wednesday, Sam and I went to WHOI once more to have a meeting with Dr. Moore who specializes in the study of right whales and how they are affected by pollution, this wasn't really in our realm of work but it surely had information about the subject that helped influence our understanding of different parts of pollution in the ocean. For Thursday, Sam and I set off to the beaches again and picked up a load of trash that was washed up or left on the beach by humans, we also did this on Friday to make sure we get all the hours we needed to succeed in our project.
